Smart, aggressive looks, stylish cabin, smooth gearchange.
Ride is jittery, below par performance, plenty of safety equipment.
Why go for a Brera S when there are other more capable rivals out there?

The Alfa Brera is closely related to the 159 compact saloon, which received a five-star safety rating in Euro NCAP crash tests. The Brera has not been tested, but the performance of its sister car bodes well.
There are all the safety measures you'd expect from a modern car. The Brera has seven airbags as standard plus an optional passenger kneebag, and stability control comes as standard. This stability control system includes a hill-holder device acting on the brakes to stop rolling back on a hill start. Tyre-pressure monitors are also standard. The lack of a mechanical steering lock improves the safety of the driver's knees, and the fact that the lock is electronic improves security. The pedals are designed to collapse under heavy impact, too.
