How We Rated The Protectors

When using a car seat for our children, we always protect the car’s seat with a suitable protector. We aren’t too bothered with the mess that they create in the back because that can be easily cleaned with an upholstery cleaner. However, it’s the damage to the car’s leather seats that we worry about because it can cause dents that can take months to clear.

As an example, we installed a car seat upon leather seats in a car that we weren’t that worried about (it’s the dogs car!). As you can see by the highlighted circles, the baby’s seat certainly left its mark and it’s for this reason alone we use a baby car seat protector. They take the brunt of the force applied onto the seat and help to prevent dents appearing as circled in the image.

As well as our experience of using a variety of car seat protectors, we also based our recommendations upon hours of research and multiple factors. Some of the factors that we considered included the construction quality, additional features, colour options, access to the seat belt/ISOFIX points, warranty and value for money.

Conclusion

If you want to keep your car’s interior in top condition whilst using a baby car seat, a protector is highly recommended. They contain extra padding and a waterproof construction to ensure the car’s seats don’t become dented or dirty.

All of our recommendations above are suitable for all baby car seats and they are a universal fit for the majority of car interiors. To avoid disappointment, we advise that you measure the width of the baby’s car seat and ensure the cover is wider for maximum protection.
